Model Year Differences

Apart from the major model changes (eg the Puma in 2007), Land Rover tweaks the models each year. I'm hoping to pull together knowledge of those tweaks, listed by the year that they occurred in. The list is specific to Australian delivered vehicles as I know that there are a variety of trim levels, options and accessories available in other markets that are not available here.

This is of particular interest to me as I have owned a MY10 and a MY11 defender and I will soon the the owner of a MY13 defender - and I'd like to know what changes to expect. The differences that have come to my attention are listed below. The list is based on anecdotal evidence, hearsay with a touch of personal experience. It primarily relates to 110 Wagons as that is my particular area of interest. I'm hoping that the list can be expanded to all variant and I'm am happy to stand corrected if any of the information is not correct:

MY11

• Siemens Traction Control/ABS replaced Bosch unit
• Rear wiper on 110 became and option rather than being standard
• Fuji White replaced Alaska White

MY12

• 2.2L Duratorque replaced the 2.4L Duratorque
• New seals on lower sectin of front doors
• Rear external door handle on station wagon has holes in it
• Part Leather Seat Trim introduced as a factory option on base model
• Premium seats introduced as a factory option on base model
• Recaro seats introduced as a factory option on base model
• Indus Silver replaced Zermatt Silver and Orkney Grey replaced Stornoway Grey

The main difference is that the engine bay is much cleaner than our 2008...

• Has a retaining strap on the fuel filler cap (maybe this is in MY12 ??)
• Standard audio system has bluetooth and USB connection
• Standard audio system has a large (very large) sub woofer mounted to the back of the cubby box

Somewhere between 2007 and 2013 the standard tyres changed from General Grabbers to Continental Cross Contact

A place to start but real detail like suppliers/manufacturers, design/manufacturing detail changes eg axle torque changes, or change from green stuff to red stuff (coolant), Philips to Posi-drive etc. needed and someone to work a data base.
