Hi all, Just bought my first Land Rover very excited.
Looking for help with Getting a towbar installed in Brisbane. Would anyone know of a good installer that does it for a fair price? So far I have been quoted 910$
Also I will be towing a trailer with LED lights, will i need to get a LED module?
Thanks

G'day and welcome, you have bought yourself an excellent car. I have the standard factory towbar fitted so can't comment on after market ones or led lights. I have heard of issues with both. From my understanding, the electronics part of the installation is where most of the cost and trouble is. Sorry I haven't kept up with the latest developments, but good luck with the car.

Be very careful with an aftermarket towbar. You can get an aftermarket bar fitted and it will work fine but it will not disable the reversing sensors when reversing. To do this you will need the Landrover wiring kit and ECU and also most likely have Landrover program it. I am not sure about the 2012 ( I have a 2011 ) but you may need to get a LED module as the genuine wiring kit pulses the trailer. I have seen one floating around on ebay.

Hi, I got the aftermarket Hayman Reese bar on my 09 The HR bar has the 50 mm std tongue as opposed to the OEM Land Rover bar which has a 40mm tongue; I had Land Rover install the wiring loom to ensure reversing sensors cancel. My van has LED lights and pulsing was an issue but an adapter module solved the problem. I have just sold my FL2 and have the adapter module listed on Ebay for $110 which is less than half price.

Is the ECU and LED module the same thing?

no the ECU is part of the Landrover wiring kit. The LED module plugs indo the socket and plugs into the trailer (It is only needed when using a trailer with LEDs).
It is possible to wire the towbar up the old fashioned way to the tail lights and if you are realy handy wit a switch to the ground of the rear sensors.
