RRS TDV8 Cooler /Radiator under front bumper bar

My 2009 RRS TDV8 has an aluminium cooler / radiator located very low behind the front bumper bar on the RHS. There is a small front mounted air intake and a larger plastic louvered grille at the rear to allow air to exit onto the front RHS tyre. The mounting bracket is very similar to that used on the windscreen washer reservoir but on the opposite side.

This device is not found on any 2.7L TDV6 RRS nor D3s I have seen.

I have tried searching this forum, and now request advice from a TDV8 expert.

If anyone knows the answer, please advise me on the function of this cooler, any other known details and why it is located in this vulnerable position instead of behind the grille.

    Cheers

It's mounted there coz there's nowhere else to mount it!!

Vulnerable... Only if you crash! I've not heard of one getting damaged other than through clogging up with mud.

    It's the intercooler BTW.
    And agree, it's not vulnerable.

What did you do in the end, did you try the Sierra one?

My finger is poised on the buy it now button. Seems to be a good option for double the OEM intercooler core size, for the same price as an OEM one. I just need to work out the reducers needed (not able to get out and bend over far enough to be able to measure the ID of the OEM pipework)

The pictures on Disco3 look quite neat too.
