Mine had the same outside air temp,5degrees for two days, then it went back to what it should have been.
Software upgrade fixed it.....
Never seen the oil level noted on the dash, dipstick works fine
Just got my D4 back from service today and one of the errors was that the oil level check was not available, it turns out the software hadn't been upgraded/loaded.
I also now have a water temp that actually moves, which it never did before.
Has anyone else found this on their D4?
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I assume you're referring to the water temp rising to normal as it warms-up rather than fluctuating once warmed-up.

Absolutely. I thought that the arrow was the indication of mid range and the solid white at the bottom should rise up in a similar manner to the fuel gauge. My arrow was always at the mid range when I first started from cold in the morning.
It may be that the software may have never been loaded from the factory.
