    Carnarvon Gorge

    Morning All
Carnarvon Gorge is done and dusted, Dave did a great job organising it (Thanks mate). We left Gatton Macca's at 6.15ish and met Wayne and Lyn, his mate Klaus and Bev on the side of the road west of Gatton, travelled up to Toowoomba, stopped for a few minutes to group up and convoyed through to Roma. Roger Roger, & his long suffering wife Lyn had a spot of bother with the transfer case dropping out of gear occasionally so out came the tools at Roma Park and after a quick bit of running repairs and a top up of fluid, a bit of lunch and fuel, we were on our way. Another wee wander at Injune and then onto Carnarvon. The road in was pretty good with only a few corrugations and after checking in and setting up at about 4.30pm, it was time for a relaxing beverage or six and dinner. Friday saw us splinter off into a couple of groups to tackle different sites off the main track,Moss Canyon, The Ampitheatre, The Art Gallery, Wards Canyon etc. (my fav) it was a nice sunny/slightly cloudy day in the mid to high 20's and by all reports we all saw some spectacular sites (see piccy's). Uncle Fred, the local local, regailed us with his stories and interpretations of the rock drawings/paintings, showed us a few interesting burial sites and was nice enough to join us for a refreshing ale back at camp before a nice dinner and quite a few more drinks and some time around the camp fire. Saturday saw us up and whilst Garry, Adam and the ladies went and punished themselves again with more walking and climbing the rest checked out Baloon Cave and the Rock Pool, the kids went for a swim whilst we supervised from the shore (with a drink of course) and a relaxing afternoon back at camp talking,a group photo in front of the Tardis and the Black Flash, followed by happy hour and dinner. We packed up early Sunday morning for the drive home. Thanks again Dave for a great long weekend, and thanks to everyone who could come for the fun and camaraderie.

    Hi all,
    Another grrreat trip!
Just to set the record straight I only take part blame and less responsibility for the problems I had. I blame gravity. If we didn't have gravity, the oil would have stayed in the transfer case! That being said, I have proved that a LT230ES can travel around 400km under load and dry as a bone! I must thank Chris for his time and knowledge, Phil for the replacement oil and everyone else for their patience!
Back to the trip. I have some videos I could post of the Moss Garden and Ampitheatre but seeing as they contain all the group's audio, I'll refrain . (think fart noises and gassy burps).
One of the reasons we joined the GCLRO Club was to go places and see things we would normally not have seen or gone. This trip fits that bill! Special mention to my wife Lynny who struggled to complete the 10k round trip to the ampitheatre but refused to give up (that and I threatened to let her die where she fell) !
Great trip, recommend it if you haven't done it.
Thanks to Busman for throwing it together and everyone else for the great company.
    Ralph

PS, I am in the market for a LT230ES with CDL and and no whine!

Garry, Wayne and I thought about doing a Top Gear tradition and helping find out what the problem was, how to fix it and then leave you behind
