not uncommon with bonded linings that have had oil exposure, have been dipped underwater while hot OR have locked on and "rocked" off.
The most common ones Ive seen are on the old 3T single axle trailers that used to go behind mogs with hydraulic override/parkbrakes. The pawl would lock the hydraulics, operators wouldnt realise "rock" the trailer to get the brakes loose and drive off. If they were unloaded the trailer would skip, if it was full they'd rip the linings off.
