Geelong to Melbourne - AFL fans travelling by train

    need some help

just planning the annual footy trip..........we don't have many rounds we can choose from so round 16 looks like it

i assume we have plenty of time up our sleeve to go straight from the CATS game at skilled to the Blues game which is at Edihad as the train departs Geelong at 17:30 and gets into South Melbourne around 18:35

throw in the pies v crows game fri night and bulldogs v bombers game on sunday = a big weekend

The V/Line train would arrive at Melbourne, not South Melbourne.
Spencer St (now Southern Cross) Station.
Then a quick walk over the concourse/bridge to Etihad Stadium and the entry queues.

There are major signal/track works and speed restrictions on that line at the moment so expect delays. Usually around ten minutes or so but there have been a few commuter horror stories recently.

Yeah as Mick says, the train will arrive at Southern Cross station, which is no more than 10 minutes walk to Etihad.

Ditto to what's been said above.

Now, from the other end, you'll find that South Geelong station is closer to Kardinia Park than Geelong station, so if you're walking to either one, I'd be heading to South Geelong.
