    BB6 17 inch Rims / RRS

Just thought i would share some info re Performance BB6 rims for isco3 & RRS 2.7 non brembos etc .

I ordered some BB-6 17 inc wheels throught the Perth branch of Performance Wheels , I thought these were 48mm off-set but learnt later that they were only 38mm o/set , and there may be an issue with the wheel nuts ( Maybe !!! ) . Long story short, Peter Taylor the proprietor rang Adelaide to find out if they had a 48mm off-set as i thought was available answer was no but they would make me set with 42mm off-set and be designed to re use my own esxisting wheel nuts and a load factor of 1400kg for the same price as previousky quoted . I love a good outcome and will buy Peter a beer as he is a nice bloke .

Good outcome - +38mm would have been illegal here!

    Cheers,

Thanks Gordon , just scrape in by 3 mm as i think 25m is the max extra off-set for WA as i understand it . Al

In Victoria, it's a maximum of 25mm increase in wheel track - that's 12.5mm each side. 42mm offset just scrapes in!

    Hi Fatso
The BB6 mags had a cracking problem due to the nuts used and now use the LR nuts so if the ones you have don't use the LR nuts they are the second edition version (like mine) Don't know about the off sets though might check, hate to do something illegal

The off the shelf BB-6 17 are 38mm off-set and are supplied with wheel nuts to suit , the BB-6 they make for the disko & RRS are 42mm off-set and have stepped stud holes to except the landy oem wheel nuts .

No good just going in to the shop and buying BB-6 17inch as you get the wrong ones as i nearly did , you have to specify ones to fit landrover and they will make you a set , best to ring the factory in Adelaid . Al

That's right well sort of they have only recently started making the BB6 to suit the Disco nuts. The original BB6 had thinner spokes and had cracking problems they then added a bit of a flange to the rear of the spokes to overcome this problem. When mine cracked (later type) the big knob from Performance mags came to look at them, at the place of purchase. Now they are making them to suit the LR nuts as these nuts go through the mag not just using a taper to centre and hold the wheel. I,m keeping a close eye on mine

Hope your wheels stay ok , i will use the BB6 wheels for camping trips ect and change back to the Hollywood wheels on return , pity they wont just swap yours over . One thing about landrover is they make stuff hard to live with now . Supose some would call it progress i call it a PITA .
