    Trailer electrics

Went to attach a trailer to my 07 TD4 and the trailer lights blinkers don't work.
Trailer is fine works on my FL1 and it doesn't have LED lights.
Park lights and stop lights work normal. RH blinker no go, LH blinker flashes the brake lights.

I have access to a Autodiagnos computer that can talk to the BCU and the trailer module. There were light faults in the trailer module. cleared these faults and no difference. Faults in the BCU weren't for anything to to with trailer.

This computer doesn't have the function to program the BCU to accept trailer module.

My question is this a programming issue or a issue with the trailer module?

Could be an earthing problem. Is the wiring earthed by the wiring through the car or on the trailer. If it is not try shorting the earth directly to the trailer.

Yep have tried that. Have also tried with a test light straight at the plug with the same results.

Took it to the stealers today. The Bcu need to be reprogrammed to accept the trailer module.

I ended up with exactly the same issue on the initial install of my trailer wiring - blown fuse inside the trailer ecu box + reprogramme car ecu to know trailer ecu installed ?

What wiring kits are you guys using for your trailer harness? Genuine or other?
I bought Hayman Reece wiring loom and module along with the bar, all plug and play stuff and every thing worked straight off the bat. I am wondering why it went so smoothly as this is not my usual experience with all things Land Rover

Yep genuine LR trailer kit - I understand the Hayman Reece ecu is only designed to protect the car electrics from short circuits etc - not sure you get told so many stories - does the trailer icon on the dash flash when you indicate?

No I don't get the famous dash light.....but on my Classic Rangie I get the green trailer light, and it is 20 years old....

Ditto. Was a bit worried after the chat on this forum, but the Haymen Reece set-up brings up the green trailer light in the dash and seems to work as advertised with the transmission and rear parking sensors. Very happy at $895 fitted.
