Portable Winches

I have a Freelander 2 and I am never comfortable about 4WDing without a 2nd Vehicle though sometimes my mates are not always free for a weekend drive and it make me nervous driving alone without a winch, due to no bull bar being a available for the Freelander 2 , I dislike not have a winch for recovery, I stumbled across a portable winch on the web and I would be happy to have a portable winch though I wouldn't have a clue what to look at , Has anyone had any experience or seen a portable winch in action, Im happy to have any electrical modification made to the front if necessary ( Trying to avoid having to get a hand winch), open to suggestions

You might want to ask the mods to move this to a winch related area (like Recovery) - I am afraid that winches and GPSs don't have a lot in common except that a GPS might get you into an area where you need to use your portable winch.
