    Switched ignition source, any ideas?

    Hi

I'm mounting a Water Watch fuel "filter" in the engine bay in front of the main battery. I need a switched ignition source to power the sensor & LED warning light & buzzer. It comes with its own built in 5 amp fuse & holder.

Does anyone know which fuse I could use or if there is another power source I could use around this area, are there fittings available that coud be used to piggy back off a fuse & if so where I might be able to purchase them?

    Thanks,

    Murray

Murray - I am also thinking about putting one of these put in. Can I ask your reasoning for putting it in the engine bay well after the main fuel filter.

I had been thinking next to the main filter and putting a protective cover on but I haven't actually looked at it in any detail, so interested in your logic.

    Cheers

    Hi Gary,

It is supposed to be fitted before the factory filter. I will be running the fuel lines back down to cut in before the factory fuel filter. I wanted the water trap in the engine bay to be able to sight it & drain it if I ever pick up some water.
By the way does anyone know where to get the piggy back fitting for the fuse.

    Cheers,

    Murray

The factory filter is under the drivers seat protected by a guard.

I see why you would want it there....just not sure about the 2 metre or so run each water to the filter.

    Hi Brett
Can't really see it being a problem as long as I use high pressure fuel line, having said that , I could be missing something. If I am I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

I would like to know too.

I have heard that Jordan Rovertech in WA fits them....but not due to catch up with them again for another 6 months for the next service to talk to them about it.

The system senses the pressure in the low pressure fuel line (all before the injector pump) so anything that can cause any back pressure can be detected and cause problems. When Waterwatch was first being installed into D3s etc the recommended fuel size line was a tad too small and caused issues but when the next size larger fuel pipe was used the problem was fixed.

    Cheers
