The 
Penrice Stone Train is a freight train in 
South Australia that operates from 
Penrice in the 
Barossa Valley to 
Osborne in Adelaide's north-western suburbs. It is currently operated by 
Genesee and Wyoming Australia, on behalf of Penrice Soda Holdings Limited.
 The train ferries 
limestone every day, from the Penrice Quarry near 
Angaston in the 
Barossa Valley to the Penrice 
soda ash plant at Osborne on the 
Lefevre Peninsula, and the co-located Readymix concrete batching plant 
[1] This train has operated since November 1950 under different operators and locomotives.
 The 'Stonie' is currently the only surviving 
broad gauge freight service in South Australia as of November 2012. Locomotives used for this service are limited to 
700 & 
830  classes, with the usual locomotive lash-up being (first loco leading  towards Osborne) 700-830 or 3x 830, but on rare occasions the loco  consist has been 830-700-830. There are several other classes of  locomotives that have hauled the Stone Train service:
