    Today's Joyous News.

As of the 01-07-2013 there will be a zero tolerance on speeding in Queensland; 111 kph in a 110 zone and you're gone. Chances are it won't be a cop busting you, in the second half of this year private contractors will be operating speed camera cars and hand held radar devices. The wann-a-be cops who can't make it are going to have a ball.

They're lowering the tolerance, but I didn't think they were telling anyone what it will be? I had it on reliable advice that the current tolerance is 6km over.

    Question

    I say that is ridiculous.
So, ya're out in the middle of the sticks, miles from anywhere, & ya're 1k over & ya're gone?....How stupid is that.....now, someone tell me that ain't revenue raising?
    Cheers, Pickles.

I can see a class action happening here. It will be a Lawyers picnic. I'm sure someone will test this legislation and question how accurate both the equipment and the operators are. They are going to need new radars, cameras, etc as the current equipment is rated at + or - 1% which throws out any of those stupid 1 k over style of offences.

I would like to see them try keeping a 0% machine correctly calibrated...

    What a joke...

Campbell Newman stated some months back that he intended to raise revenue, from speeding offences, from $30,000,000 to $80,000,000 (rubbery). I was surprised, at the time, that nobody jumped at the fact that fines have always been about safety, not a money grab.

The trouble is none of these immoral laws get repealed, the next bunch of dumb ****s blame the previous dumb ****s, while happily raking in the dough.

I will be watching this new speeding set up with interest,as all of my land rovers have cable driven speedo's and those type of speedo's are known to have an error factor of 10%, as are all speedos of that type, so therefore it would/could be out 10kph either way at 100 kph, so it looks like the Garmin will be going from vehicle to vehicle,or I will be buying a second Garmin, but getting a LWB 2a to 100+would be a feat without an O/drive.
