    Timing - RPM

    Hi Fellas,

Recently got my 2010 TD4 HSE back from service. At idle the taco is sitting on 8,000 and it feels fast to me. Anyone know if this is where it should be?

From memory it should idle approx 1700rpm

    I'll assume you mean 800rpm.

That's pretty standard idle for most vehicles. Quick Google says 780rpm for the td4.

1700rpm for idle is massively too high. That'd be a happy cruising rpm!!

oops, doh!!! 800 is what I meant. Thanks for the replies.

Hmm, sounds and feels a bit fast or like it wants to go when I am traffic lights. But I don't think 20 rpm is worth going back to the service centre for???

I had a look at mine today and it sits slightly above 800 rpm (I have just had a timing belt changed aswell)

This thread is raising good chuckles - thanks

A taco ripping along at 8000 or even idling at 1700rpm.... really hot chilli sauce, eh?

    (sorry, I couldn't resist... )

Yeah, I felt it was going a bit fast but not redlining at idle

Either way, I must have been imagining the timing being off.
