    Hey Guys,

What's the options for non-OEM washer fluid for a D4?

    Cheers,

Soon as I saw the question, I was expecting that response.

Yes - I'm another believer in tap water, though I will usually add a little "Rainex" washer additive to it.
    Cheers .........

I'm for tap water as well, I hate the additive mechanics put in. Makes a mess of the unwiped area and side glass.

I always hate it when you see $4 - washer additive on the bill.
Just took the wife's car to a different garage and there it was......$4.

Coming from the UK I'm used to adding a drop of Metho to stop it freezing but no need for this in Melbourne but I like the smell.

    I use tank water.

sonax clear view is the best stuff i have come across

tap water is okay but isnt a touch on sonax when it comes to getting the screen clean esp when there is plenty of road grime about.

    and it smells nice

    Thanks Guys,

And yes I'd been waiting for the obvious answer...thanks Terry O for taking that bait....LOL!!!

Water by itself isn't good enough...as it always leaves marks, doesn't really remove bug smash...

However, I was a bit concerned about additives, in case they damage something. My other car uses an alcohol based fluid, so I was just wondering.

Anyway, I'll do some trials on the recommended additives.

    Thanks again,

    Kev.
