Discreet winch....Hmmmm been there & decided no, as have a few others as it does not meet any ADR & therefore insurance may not payout. Don't want to risk that scenario.

After what feels like an eternity my 2006 range rover sport arrives tomorrow!
Already have 20s sitting in the garage, will get some coopers STT/max or similar off road tyres for the 18s. Also sourcing a discreet winch bar and trying to figure out if I should get a warn winch from the states or a tigerz11 domin8r (that's right spelt with an 8!) as they cost roughly the same.
Will post up some pics hopefully tomorrow!
Cheers

I'm going to speak to a few engineers and maybe look at getting it certified.
It currently has a oem "brush" bar on it and I can't see how the winch bar (being that it's not terribly big would affect the operation of the airbags and as far as I know (which isn't much lol) as its behind the bumper bar meets the remaining adrs let alone how it would affect insurance claims...
Cheers
Enjoy the drive home - the looong way!
where are you getting it from?
Cheers,
Sean

Aren't the discreet winches an option for LR's ? They won't fit an ARB or OL bar (for me they would not as they said that they have not been crashed tested by LR.....and this was on two occasions...I know others have had after market bars fitted pre delivery), but they will fit a discreet winch as it has been approved by LR.
A little confused...which is easy to do.
Brett....
I know they will fit the Land Rover OEM Winch kit (I've got it on my D4) but they won't fit the discreet winch kit as that sits hidden behind the bumper and I suspect they are right, they haven't certified that; its an after market product I believe(UK).
Pics or it didn't happen!
Brett, All,
The LR version is not a discreet mount. I think you may be confusing it with the accessory LR winch mount which is mounted mostly in front of the factory bumper bar. It is tested & ADR approved.
The discreet mounts that are aftermarket from the UK & Sydney mount behind the factory bar & removes the structural piece behind the bumper, they are not crash tested & therefore do not meet ANY ADR's whatsoever. Hence the reason I stopped there.
No one could provide a crash test result, so I baulked at the idea not wanting insurance to say no in the event of an accident.
If they have a way to escape the clause they will.
HTH all.
Cheers
Quite the opposite, sticks out like the proverbial.
I really like the idea of the discrete mount, but also share these concerns. It would be interesting to find out if LR did any testing on the mounts they used on the Millionth Discovery (looks like a D44), or if Devon 4x4 have. Irrelevant in terms of ADRs, but they were obviously confident enough to fit them.
Cheers,
Jon
