spun a bearing or thrown one?
Hello everyone, we have a problem in the lakefield area requiring assistance whereby a 200 tdi has decided to haemorage.
We have completed our trip to the top and are now staying at Lakeland downs to ponder our options.
It is believed that a bearing cap has let go and the end result is an engine that is not a happy chappy!
Is there anyone in the Far North who may be of assistance or know of anyone who may have a 200 tdi or the necessary bits and bobs to assist our vehicle?
I have my P38 along for this trip and can easily tow the stricken vehicle if needs be as I've already done so to get us here.
Many thanks
Keithy

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
have not pulled the sump off yet, I do not know for sure what has happened!
Sounded like a leg out of bed to me, but it's not my vehicle! There were no signs of anything going in the motor beforehand, we were travelling at 100kmh on bitumen when it happened.
The motor was also running on, would not shut down when the key was turned off.
The engine is in a classic rangie, out of a disco, but has been in the the classic for many years of trouble free motoring before this event.
It was running very rough and puffing white smoke during idle before it died. Very bad rattly and unhappy idle.
There is a Range Rover specialist in Julatten near Mount Molloy 0740941450 which is about 200km away. Failing this you could call the Landy Centre Cairns on 0740322613 which is about 300km. They are both affiliated with the LR Owners Club of Cairns. There is a group of us passing through there on Sunday if we can be of any assistance.
Thank you very much! We will give him a ring and go from there!
It is likely we will head that way regardless!
I will let you know how we go.
Cheers

I towed him to Mareeba (old mate in julatten could not assist us), we hired a car trailer and I towed him on the trailer down the Kuranda range and in to the Landy Centre in Cairns. Old mate has a 200tdi that we are going to transplant into the classic tomorrow!
Must thank you again Carl for posting the helpful details!
Early night tonight, big day tomorrow!
Cheers

Hyper tune landrover are also good for advice in Cairns, they also carry some second hand parts.
Hyper Tune British Motors Land Rover - Home in Spence st.
Sorry I missed this one Keith, as I mentioned in the other thread have all bits you might need (crank, rods, pistons, bearings etc etc) you could have easily worked on the old girl in the shed here (Cooktown)
If I can still help with parts that might be hard or slow to source let us know before 1900 tonight (Friday) after which I will be out of comms till Monday night sometime.
Regards,
Steve
Thanks again Steve! Should be right from here hopefully, if not will tow the old girl home on the back of my P38!
Cheers
