Who's using castrol edge in tdv6?

    Hi all,

Just about to do an oil change on my rrs and manual says 5w30 B1 or B3.

I have a look at the castrol site and it says to use cadtrol edge 5w30 but it's rated at A3/B4...

I'm guessing it would be fine but just after some assurance on the rating against what the manual says.

    Thanks

I would just order some from the local dealer.

    Hi there,
Don't use the Castrol edge if you have a DPF( diesel particulate filter) the oil is not suited to These can damage the filter.
I have used Castrol professional C1 5-30 you can purchase from any Castrol distributor in a 20 ltr drum cost me $198 last year.

I'd been using castrol edge sport 0W-40 in my tdv6 SE D3 after using Mobil 1 super syn 0W-40. A while back, I went to do another oil change.

I couldn't find castrol edge but i found castrol titanium 0W-40 - I didn't have my glasses with me to read the label - the guy in the shop told me the titanium replaced the edge and it was essentially the same.

I paid the small fortune, returned home, filled the engine, had a worrying thought, put my glasses on and read the label - dang! not good for particulate filters!

Went to another shop and I reverted back to Mobil 1 super syn 0W-40 and I intend to stay with this oil.

There was a thread posted several months ago which related to the D4 chassis number depending on the code eg AA.... Or FF.... Was the way you were able to tell if the vehicle was fitted with one, not sure if its the same with the rrs.
Otherwise talk to your dealer / mechanic.
I would imagine you would see a catalytic converter style canister on the exhaust?

My car has a search function?

Just kidding. I found out it doesn't (apparently....)

Oil change done, had to grind 2 bolts off the bash plate, then didn't know oil filter was under the engine cover.... Not the quickest oil change I've ever done!

Will certainly be quicker next time!
