The Local Nut and Bolt Shop

Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes.

Posted on the wall at my local tool/nut and bolt shop.

WE SPECIALIZE IN AMAZINGLY ACCURATE INTERPRETATIONS OF YOUR PATHETICALLY UNCLEAR AND DISMALLY VAGUE DESCRIPTIONS OF WHAT YOU THINK YOU MIGHT WANT.

That's a bit rich. Most fastener shops don't employ people who were even born when many thread systems were in common use and have never heard of them.

Go down to a bolt shop and ask about BSF, BSC, CEI Coarse, UN Constant pitch series, UNEF and see the reaction. They also appear to be unaware that as many as five pitches are in use in some metric diameters only knowing metric "M" and metric fine.

I stock and sell taps and dies in all these. BSC, BSF, UN 24 pitch are my best sellers yet restorers and repairers regularly complain of the difficulty in buying fasteners and of the blank looks they get from shoppies at bolt shops.

Thankyou Brian for yet another fantastic generalisation.

As a matter of interest, the local "Bolt Place" are great and I have no doubt that they all would know exactly what you are going on about.

The bolt Shop near me has the motto: "We go where other fear to thread" and

the mobile phone shop next door has male and female toilet outside and on each door reads "hand held" and "hands free"....

    Pretty clever!

    Cheers
