    Perentie front diff/axle housing

Hi perentie gurus, I'm after some info on if and how the front axle housing is braced/strengthened on the army 110's. If they are strengthened a few photos would be great please. I have an isuzu 130 and are going to strengthen the front diff housing, looking for ideas.
    Cheers, Andrew.

Some of the Perenties have a cast housing that is completely different than a normal Defender.
    Sorry can't find any pics

Yeh thats right, the 6x6 and the long range patrol variants had the stronger front diff, but can someone please confirm that the standard rover diff equipped 110 had bracing welded on?

Thanks and good looking job. Only problem I see with having the bracing on top of axle tube is that I've got a Maxi drive actuator to weld on, might be in the way, otherwise good idea for extra clearance. So was thinking that if the army ones have bracing infront or under axle i'd copy the proven design. Will have to work out where exactly the actuator will go. Cheers.

the narrow cab 110 6X6 uses a standard 110 housing with pipes welded interallly-steam pipe?.from memory a plate is attached to the inner end.
placed inside and welded in spots to allow some flex.
    talked about in older threads.
they also used fine spline 4 pinion diff.
    no added brace outside.

patrol 110 4X4 had a shorter 6X6 wide cab diff housing.

lots of other aftermarket brace kits around at the time.

This is the axle housing from an RFSV perentie. Longer version used in the 6X6 SRV.

As djam1 mentioned, it is a cast centre with plug welded press-fit tubes, the same as a sals.

As pointed out in recent posts by Bush65 this sort of design is far from optimal. It is much easier to stiffen/strengthen a fully welded (pressed steel) housing.

Thanks for the replies guys. So is it the case that the standard army 110 front diffs are not braced? I might be thinking of our old army s2a which Definately had bracing welded to it's front diff, so assumed the 110 had also. Not to worry I'll be bracing mine up anyway. Cheers.

the most conversation about bracing diffs was to guard against denting the housing.

the dented diff then rubbed through on the crown wheel and leaked oil.
