    Defender/.County roof rack

    Hi

I am looking for buying advice and other member experiences with full length roof racks to suit my County 110 wagon.

I only intend using it at this time for longer trips (i.e. on and off two or three times a year) so needs to be lightweight (read ideally aluminium), looking for connections that do not stress crack the gutters.

I will try to keep roof loads down to minimum, but will probably end up carrying a spare tyre (carcus only) and some extra fuel say all up <100kg.But mostly just bedding, tents, etc.

In the next year or so or future I will be building a defender tourer based on a puma 110 so would like it to look good.

    Any tips/brands etc to investigate?

    Thanks

    Clive

Lots of threads on here. Use the search facility. Probably three best brands on the market are Front Runner (Wind Cheetah), Hannibal, and Patriot.

We have the Front Runner (Wind Cheetah) full-length rack. It came with the vehicle, but there's no way I would have anything else. Aluminium, which I would definitely recommend. It's light enough that I can take it on and off myself, but strong enough to walk around on.

We have ours with the raised section towards the front. This helps retain anything up there under braking, and make it easier to climb up from the ladder at the rear.

We struggled for a few months putting random items on the roof, then purchased the largest MSA roof bag. In it goes all of our bulky but light stuff for travelling... pillows, sleeping bags, clothes bags, etc.

We also have the Front Runner (Wind Cheetah) full-length. Ours is minus the raised section towards the front.

I purchased mine after seeing Scallops one.......

I believe they are are good value for money.
