yep, aux system overhaul time and dont worry about puffing on start up thats normal for an old school mechanical diesel thats a bit long in the tooth and lacking in love.
Hi! A Friend is considering a 300tdi with about 212000 k on clock no overhauls to date reported by owner. Due for Timing belts and P gasket weeping!
Considering above my thoughts would be to replace water pump at same time as preventave maintainance. I am told the vehicle puffs a bit of smoke on start up, Valve seals or turbo?
I would appreciate thoughts and other PM advice.
Thanks

I'd replace all of the brake and clutch rubbers (including all seals), and of course new fluids there. Might want to consider rebuilding or replacing the injectors - pop pressures are critical to avoid dribbling resulting in oil washing off the sides of the cylinders. Flush the intercooler and coolant system - AND DON'T FORGET THE LOW COOLANT ALARM.
