HDS 9 touch

Hi guys.
I got my new sounder today.
Lowrance HDS9 Touch with down/side scanning and also an airmar 1kw transducer.Also have a RAM mount and also have platinum mapping coming next week.
I cant believe the size/weight of the 1kw transducer,the structure scan transducer isnt small either.
I will update the thread as I instal then use the gear.

That is a nice unit Andy, IMO the only kit that trumps the new Lowrance units is Raymarine but at a huge price premium. Structure scan still amazes me....

Been using the HD10 on the mates boat, they are fantastic, make sure you read up on how to use all the functions as they are really full on. Strangely though we dont seem to catch many more fish..lol

Anybody with experience in setting transducers up????
Having issues deciding where to locate them.
From what Ive found,the structure scan needs to be set slightly lower than the usual transducer,basically so it isnt blocked from looking sidewards by the other unit.There also SHOULD be at least 30cm between them.
Here lays my issue,it will put the big airmar sender in conflict with the boarding ladder and possibly not deep enough in the water behind the transom.
If I put the Airmar to the left of the motor there wont be a problem.
Some say this is no good due to propellor turbulance.Others say its a myth.
It really needs to go to the left,15" away from the prop circumference is all I seem to be able to find.
Anyone in the know????

Is it possible to set the 1kw up as shoot thru

After going to thru hull ducers i now cant find much good about transom?
Obviously the structure scan is another matter, but the big hunk of 2kg plastic hanging in the breeze spraying the engine ready to get thwacked gives me shivers!

The mount has a safety "flip up" and 2kg sounds about right,its bloody heavy.
Have heard from another owner with the same setup,stick the airmar on the other side!!!
