this one in QLD has been painted battleship or darker grey inside and out, all the galv is now black, it is a later diesel, has checkerplate floor... price? $10k !!!!
Do people not realise these are just cars, that their age isnt a reason to just add a couple grand (like 7 or 8) and if you change it from original then you cant ask a vintage car price either??
sorry the prices being asked annoys me!! This may be a good vehicle, it looks straight etc and neat, not my kettle of fish..... but the price ???...
for that money you can get a running and registered 1915-1920 vehicle....???
rant over... sorry!

That person is a wheeler-dealer-restorer-trader in Series1's and this weekend is the All British Day in Brisbane,he is getting in early.
My Series 1 now has a brand new original engine (NOS parts throughout), and it has also been beautifully restored with the help of SLOW club members.
Shannons insurers came and inspected it for valuation and insurance purposes. After their inspection and research of other similar vehicles, they comprehensively insured my pride and joy for $18,000.00, and that increases each and every year.....(whilst my Defender drops each year)
And although that surprised me - it makes owning her all the more enjoyable!

Hi Nigel,
Don't forget that today many people are interested in the "retro look" and might like a fully rebuilt, reliable vehicle that looks the part but to an enthusiast does not seem "right". Each to their own ideas.
True veteran or vintage cars are more of a novelty these days and the comparative prices reflects that - big numbers were restored in the affluent postwar period through to the 1980s by people preserving what they had travelled in as children or what grandpop owned.

Wait until we get a few years away from the 70th anniversary and then prices will rise even more !
The sellers expectatons are high and although to a rivet counter it isn't 'right', it might actually be a more usable vehicle.
Will it sell at that price ? Possibly not, but as a seller it's best to go in with a high price & test the water. You can always lower the price if someone is interested.
There have been a few immaculate Series I's for sale recently around the $15 to 18K. They don't sell straight away and I wonder if they do actually sell or whether the owners just stop advertising them.
Buying & running a Land Rover used to be a low cost hobby but as parts get more difficult to find and more people become interested in owning/restoring a Land Rover the prices naturally rise.
Worth while checking the car websites for bargains.
