Nice of the bystanders to just stand there whilst the crews under water,,,

Do you reckon they're concrete barriers that they hit,,, it looked like they bent when he hits them,,

Nasty, and yes, they were concrete.
He might've had half a chance if he got off the middle pedal a little, although I wonder if he had a stuck throttle ?

    I hate motorsport prangs....

    wrong choice of barriers,,
those are not flat on the inside, they are wider at the bottom, sort of an inverted Y
and just waiting to launch something upwards.

And having had a stuck throttle @6700RPM in top gear heading straight for a wall it's an awful feeling.

I nearly dipped the clutch to blow the engine, luckily I could hit the kill switch but it took three goes which felt like an eternity but probably happened in well, well under a second......

Looks like maybe something wrong with the steering also as wheels pointing straight ahead.

    Cruel Pedro, cruel.

It was a long, long time ago at Amaroo Park.
Just after cresting Bitupave I hit the picks to enter the Dunlop Loop and the little jigger, she didn't slow down, the throttle was stuck wide open.....
In an open wheeler there isn't much between your tootsies and whatever you collect, and in this case it would've been sandstone......

I think the worst crash I've ever seen in motorsport was the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix where David Purley tried in vain to rescue Roger Williamson from his burning car.

........Purley is perhaps best known for his actions at the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix, where he abandoned his own race and attempted to save the life of fellow driver Roger Williamson, whose car was upside down and on fire following a horrific accident. Purley was awarded the George Medal for his courage in trying to save Williamson, who perished in the blaze. Purley died in a plane crash, having retired from motorsport and taken up aerobatics, in 1985.
