    Question Safety Air Bags?

Hi peoples, One of my sons mates parents (whew) owns a diesel Disco 1 but when talking to them & checking it out just now I noticed the rego said 1999 & it had no safety air bags on either side. Mines a 96 ES & does also isn't 1999 a Disco 2???
Is their rego & all their paperwork wrong? I told them I'd check up on here for them.
    Thanks

1999 first registration year is consistent with a D1. Not all D1s were registered in the same year as they were made, sea freight and dealer stock can keep a vehicle unsold for up to a year. Also model years don't change exactly at 31 December, new models generally come out around 2-4 months before that. Airbags were optional on D1s.

According to this twin air-bags were made standard across the range in April 96 & this is an Ozzie site.
Is this correct? as these are some of the sites (as is this one) are were you usually go to get little bits of info.

A 99 Discovery 1 without airbags is all good.
The 'S' was a low spec model with no airbags/no abs. They are sometimes sought after due to their low tech specs.
99 was the last year of the D1.

Hahaha (does that work here ), that's part of the reason I thought I'd ask owners as well

Yes, I have a '98 D1 S, which is very plain Jane. No airbags, no ABS, very simple.

Yes - very true - it is forum where people post their opinions not necessarily facts. It is up to the original poster to work out what is relevant and what is not.
