    Stone Chips

Hi, have just returned from a round Australia trip with my Disco4 & caravan in tow. I am very disappointed in the fact that I have Stone Chips on the 2 rear guards. Since this vehicle is supposed to be the best off road for 8 years in a row its a bit poor that I now have to fit guard extensions to prevent this from happening. Has anyone else had this problem ????

I have just had my disco 3 resprayed because of the number of stone chips, but I think most of the chips in the doors rear guards etc were caused by not having mud flaps, which I have now fitted.

    Stone chips

Same on my D3 but they are not colour coded!
This was my immediate response on the clean up when home.
Also had to get a Coopers LTZ 19" tire in Broome x1 (Great tyre = my next choice) and the tread pattern vs Pirelli scorpions it shredded twice as much off the mud flap and arch cover!! compared to Pirelli scorpion. Both shredded the mud flap on the TANAMI and Scopions did the GIBB

    Question

Depends how anal you are about this sort of stuff.
If ya don't want it to happen again, there are a multitude of "protective" strips etc that can be placed upon flares etc that will protect them...3M make some good stuff.....if ya wanna have some good protection professionally applied contact "ozzy cozzy"...they do some good stuff.
    Cheers, Pickles.

I have the same marks and thank that I do not own a D4 with colour coded flares!!! I got stuck for tyres in Broom and fitted a Coopers LTZ to one rear wheel> only on dirt so no axle diff problems with different tread patterns on a D3.
I No longer have amid flap on that side after the Tanami! Still my next tyres will be LTZ after pirelli scorpions have been OK but not the grip of a LTZ Brian

I did a lot of high speed rocky dirt road k's recently,to my surprise, very few rock chips.
The front mud flaps stopped this happening.

The roads were that bad,the rear tyres copped a lot of bad chipping and need replacing.

The bottom edge of the rear bumper has also been badly damaged from flying stones, also lots of chips on rear chassis rails, etc.
