2012 Defender Towbar Kit

Good morning all,
My D90 Towbar kit arrived in the mail today from Melbourne City Land Rover. The install of the bar itself was simple and painless.



However, the trailer wiring loom is proving to be a problem. Here is what is provided in the kit:



Here is what this loom needs to connect to:



There is no connector included in the kit to connect the wiring to that orange plug! Just to show that no parts were missing from the kit, here is the inventory:



My question is, does anybody know what part I need to complete this circuit?

Wire cutters, wire strippers, a soldering iron, some solder and a few bits of shrink wrap! It's only 7 wires!

EDIT: this is actually a serious post, that is what I would do, a plug is only another place to have issues anyway.

Mine is wired in behind the righthand light cluster, all wires needed are there, just be careful as there are three same colour wires in the loom that match the lefthand indicator. The dealer did mine incorrectly and I had to rewire.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. Search for my post and you will find all the wire colours you need to solder it up.

It wasn;t much of a job really. Took off the rear wheel to get a bit of access and was done in about half an hour or so.

I think P/N LR005920 is the loom you need to connect to that plug in the wheel arch,...a bit expensive maybe, but I've heard that a Discovery 11 has them as standard, so maybe get one from a wrecker?

I agree with the replies that it's not a difficult job to connect a few wires, but not everyone is capable of doing it. I think it's pretty poor form to supply a loose plug and a bit of cable and call it a wiring loom when it doesn't even match up with the factory plug on the vehicle.

My left hand indicator is not working, and (because my trailer is 25 years old) I assumed it was the trailer wiring or a blown globe. But maybe I have the wrong wire

This is the information I used:

The colour coding of the wires going into the connector and the function of those colour codes from the International wiring code table are as under:

Table 1
1 Green/red LH indicator
2 Green/brown Reversing
3 Black Earth
4 Green/white RH indicator
5 Purple Electric trailer brakes
6 Green/purple Stop
7 Red/black Rear and number plate lamps
8 Red/yellow Fog lamp switch to fuse
9 Red/orange Fog lamp fuse to fog lamp

The colour codes of the wiring for Australian standard trailer connections are:

Table 2
1 Yellow LH turn
2 Black Reversing
3 White Earth
4 Green RH turn
5 Blue Service brakes
6 Red Stop lamps
7 Brown Rear lamps, clearance and side marker lamps

So, I put the Green/Red wire on the PUMA to the yellow wire on the socket.

Are you saying that there are more than 1 set of Green/Red wires back there?

chances are you mixed up green/red with green/brown. when I did mine they were indistinguishable, I used a multimeter to check which one got power when i turned the indicator on

oh and also, I advise against mounting the flat plug in its designated place down on the bar, I mounted mine to the rear cross-member, higher up, I also wired a round plug at the same time so I can use either without the need for an adapter and put this in the hole tot eh right of the tow bar bracket with the flat attached directly below it. makes my life so much easier having the two there, only regret is not wiring a 9 pin at the same time.
