Oh, I forgot, apparently ARB have dealt with issues relating to their straps performance, but I can'y point you to anything about that unfortunately.

This place did a test on snatch straps for 4wd monthly with some interesting results. You can download a PDF with the whole story.
Also if you scroll down there is another report on shackles.
It will certainly make me think a second time about which strap I buy.

Phew! How lucky's that! I just bought a Megastap 8000kg from TJM last week so I could have 2 to join together. I only got that one because I was driving on that side of town. If I'd been going the other way it would've been an ARB jobbie.
I could understand something from Supercheap not quite making the grade, but ARB? You'd never expect that would you? 8O

The ARB failure if my recollection is correct related to the method of stitching of the loops at each end. Subsequent to the publication of the test ARB advised that the method had consequently been changed by its supplier. and that in any event the particular strap tested was a rare case.
It is worth noting that these straps are sourced from specialist manufacturers and then rebadged as ARB or Black Rat or whatever.

I tore the eye webbing on my last one snatching my mates 109 wagon and matching landy trailer off the beach not so long back,,
the mighty V8 shifted it until he ran into a tree, then it stalled, buggar

I got my mean green strap just after I bought the Disco,
Was real glad to see I bought a good one.
There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours
I've been reading 4 wheel drive magazines since I was a little tacker and (perhaps just because of the overwhelming $$$ they throw their way) the continual theme of editiorials etc has tended to be that ARB sell quality goods.Originally posted by Defender200Tdi

Although this may well be the case in most instances, it simply goes to show that you should take NOTHING for granted :!:
Except that LandRovers are the only cars worth having.

The article talked about that, and it was interesting that they bought the straps over the counter, and didn't ask the manafacturers to supply them.Originally posted by one_iota

Also interesting was the fact that their highly recomended Black rat, is a product of the company that did hte testing.

Yeah but to be fair, their were others (and cheaper ones) that were also highly recommended or recommended so I wouldn't read TOO much into that.Originally posted by Phoenix
