fuel gauge/dial issue Perentie

I still cant get to the bottom of the fuel dial, not reading the correct tank levels.

I noticed today that when i moved the cable that goes to this thingy pictured below, it moved the dial, it connects with a block type connector, could this be a possible cause?

I suspect that is the fuel tank changeover tap, presu,ably solenoid operated, and also presumably including a fuel gauge changeover switch. This being the case, certainly a poor connection or a faulty switch would cause incorrect readings.
