    ATB fitting

Im going to order a couple of ATB's for my Puma. I won't be able to install them. Is it a job for a Land Rover specialist (MR Automotive - need to book 18 years in advance to get work done)?

Can a specialised differential workshop do it just as well as a LR specialist? Will they know all the specific settings etc?

It was about three years ago so can't recall. I'll see if I can find a bill.

They quoted me $220 recently to fit a Detroit, but I was just dropping a bare diff off. It has already been lapped.

Basically it is running in the diff with a slightly abrasive paste applied so it wears in properly and with minimal load.

As a ball park budget I paid about $400 to fit a front ATB. That was in Sydney. MLD

Would requesting lapping (Diff lapping that is :P) be considered best practice when installing an tab/truetrack?

Lapping is usually only necessary on a new ring and pinion, if you aren't changing them (eg changing ratios) then they should already be lapped or worn in. Perhaps if the pinion height changes it might need it lapping.
