    Anyone using MudMap?

    Hi Everyone,

Not sure why I did this tonight, but I had a look at Mupmap Mud Map - Off Road Navigation and Maps on google play (so this is the android version) and it's $50 off making it $99 for now.

So now I've looked around a bit more, I see there are a few free/cheaper options available on Android, so the question now is, is there any benefit of paying the $99 for Mudmap?

    Peter.

i had Mud map on the iphone. i had the early free version and then brought some maps through mud map, never used it much but when i went have a look one day the maps had expired???? turned out they had a 12mnth lifespan. i belive they now have updated since i have used it and they now offer hema maps. Depending on what you want to use it for you might be better off looking at the hema app, i saw a thing on tv the other day where the new hema app now offers interactive maps, ie when you come across a symbol on the map you can click on it and it will give you info, click on a campground and it will tell u about the campground if it has toilets, showers etc.
if you want more of an offroad app and you already have maps for Oziexplorer then look at Ozi android or androzic. Androzic is free and Ozi is $20 i think.

I have Ozi and just converted a full set of 25k, 100k and 250k maps for it, works very well although converting was a pain till you get the hang of it, I got the maps from Applying geoscience to Australia's most important challenges - Geoscience Australia in pdf format and converted them from there,

    Thanks guys.

I've also seen a few things about Memory Map now, so might get that a go first.

I think it's the added extra information about campgrounds etc that makes Mudmap stand out?

I just bought MM2 on the special, for my iOS devices. I personally like the ability to plan a route on a desktop and export it live straight to the iDevice. I plan on converting some old paper routes to digital this way, and also importing a large number of Ozi maps too.

I've been looking at Mud maps for a bit as it has the ability to import my own maps/imagery as ECW's. Thanks to Peter's post above I saw it was on special.

Added bonus was BIG W having an itunes card special, 2x $20 cards for $30. Grabbed some and I've got MudMaps on the iPad for effectively $75 YeeHaa!

    Cheers

    Steve

No joy with the google play store sale. Oh well.

Still bumbling around trying to figure out where these free 1:250,000 topo maps for Memory-map are.

Attached is screen dumps of my Oziexplorer, a 1:25k a 1:50k and a 1:250k whick I got from the GA website I previously posted and converted, I have also customised the interface so it's more user friendly and removed some useless pages, I had been using Androzic which was free but its downside is it does not have a course up function wereas Ozi does I have MM as well which I use to create routes then export them to Ozi to use.
