    RRS EPB fault

Hi there, today I had a terrible grinding noise when I applied the park brake. It did the same thing when I tried to release it and gave a flashing fault light and a message along the lines of EPB failure and/or EPB fail to release and stayed locked on. Fortunately after I cycled the ignition it made the same noises when I tried to release it but this time it did release - I have not used it since. Any ideas what would cause this? I am supposed to be on the KI ferry on the 6th and everywhere is shut for Xmas. Cheers and thanks. 2008 RRS TDV8 by the way

A merry Xmas to all and a happy and safe new year.

Don't use the EPB until you return and are able to get it serviced. If you forget and apply the EPB, it will probably stuff up and you'll be forced to use the emergency release cable - under the cup holders. (Refer to owners manual for instructions).

Cause is a lack of maintenance - service did not clean and adjust the EPB.

    Cheers and merry Christmas!

On the D3 and Sport that I regularly service I make a point of removing the discs and cleaning the park brake at every second service, or more often if they have been on dirt roads.

It is pretty easy to do if you know one end of a spanner from the other.

I will possibly be having an afternoon in my workshop at some stage prior to the 6th if you want to use a hoist or need a hand.
