Transfercase whine

G,day all

My discovery has always had a whine from the t/case trans area when accelerating, I've been told this is normal. Do any other members have the same problem. Is there any way of fixing it apart from turning up the radio?

I have had two Disco's and they both had the same whine. Neither created a problem and I got the same answer as you from the dealer. I just got used to it, and figure that it wouldn't be a LR if it didn't make a few noises

I wonder if its the auto trans rather then the transfer case. The transfer case was rebuilt 2 yrs ago, but the auto trans down shift is occasional harsh.Could be getting tried?

was it harsh before the service?
was it harsh (directly) after the service or
has it just gradually got worse?
