I believe most bearing shops sell shim metal (<1mm thick), so you can make your own if you have some snips and hole punches.
I've just carried out the disc conversion on the passenger side and I had to replace one of the bearings. On re-assembly I cant get the final shim and circlip on over the drive flange. Its literally a fraction of a mm holding it out and no amount of pushing etc will persuade it. The manual says to adjust the shim size depending on the amount of clearance which is fine if you have a full set but I've only got what it came with.
My current shim is 2.28mm but they supposedly range from 1.5 to 2.8mm. Does anyone know if these are common parts at parts stores or is this likely a special order from the UK or AJ? With the 101 having larger axles than the rest of the rovers I doubt its a part likely to be carried by the rover spare parts places.
I'm keen to get the hub seal back on today but might be out of luck.
Cheers,
Stuee

Let us know the inside dia and outside dia and I'll see what I have here. Have a box full of various shims left over from machinery assembly. If I have a few that are the right size I'll post them over! I would whip one of my covers off, but A, they are all covered, and B, they are not leaking at the moment!!

Have you tried Anthony Johnson British 4WD Imports: Land Rover 101 - British 4wd Imports - Home Page hes the go to guy for 101s in Australia.
Oops you already knew that!
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
First set is the same as my current shim, the second set look to be for the LT95 output shaft. But their store has the 2.02mm shims which may just do it. If I have no luck with AJ I'll look to get from there or John Craddock.
Got a mate you reckons he can machine some up so going to see how they turn out. Aiming for 2mm and can source some proper ones later if they're needed.
Hi Stuee.
Had a shuffle thru my shim hook, and what I've got are not ideal, but could be made to work by your lathe friend if you get stuck or want them quick! They're 35mm id, 45mm od, and range from 2mm, 1mm, and .8mm thick. If they are of any use, PM me with a postal address and I'll stick them in the post tomorrow. No prob if not... They'll go back on the 'may be useful one day' hook!
Cheers for now, Simon!
