Anybody got a Puma in Melbourne I can drive?

    Afternoon,

This morning I test drove a 2008 Puma. Drove well loads of power, but got a few queries.

1 - It seemed to over rev every time I changed gear. Is this normal?

2 - There was a bit of backlash through the transmission.

3 - The clutch felt very short indeed, compared to my 300tdi anyway.

I was wondering if anybody preferably in northern suburbs of Melbourne has a Puma I could drive? Just for comparison purposes. Iv had plenty of Defers, but this is the first Puma Iv even been in let alone drive!

    Im in Maribyrnong.

Oh also, how good is aircon on a puma? It seemed pretty good on the one i test drove, but its quite a cool day today. That is the main reason Im upgrading / bypassing the TD5 . My tdi has no aircon which has been hell this last week! And Iv had a Td5 in the past which had aircon, but not very affective!

    Thanks, Chris

    Drive

I have one near Bendigo you can try but it is a 2.2. The issue of revs is normal, it has to do with emissions where it burns the fuel in the sytem to reduce emissions before the revs drop, or so I have been told. You will get used to it.
pm me if you want to try.

Can't help with a drive as I'm in Canberra, but the Pumas do tend to have a bit of drive train lash (typically coming from the rear diff/half shafts) and the AC should perform to a modern car standard ie mine is easily as good as the AC in my wife's 2013 Subaru.

    Thumbs up

I can't compare to earlier models because I've never driven one, but I think the clutch & the 6 speed gearbox are excellent in the latest 2.2 Puma. The shift is good & the clutch is light....very easy to drive.
If you're having difficulty getting a drive, you could always drop in to a dealer for a demo?
    Cheers, Pickles.

Thanks for the offers everyone, I ended up having a look at / drive of ProjectDirector's Puma (and a beautiful vehicle it is too, thanks sozos). Kind of confirms a couple of niggles I had about the one Id seen at the dealer, and aside from that me and the dealer couldnt agree on price when I spoke to him earlier!

So back to the drawing board! Anyone know of a good Puma for sale for less than $35k?!
