I reckon the bar looks the goods on a defender

My old GQ Poo-trol with the little 2.8TD engine had big 240 lightforce driving lights and it didn't have any adverse effect on engine cooling (did many trips through western Qld in summer).

Not sure how different the land cooling system is re: efficiency, but I'm sure others run these lights with no worries.

    Cheers

I had the same bullbar/spotlight combo on my 200Tdi single cab. Once I replaced the water pump - no cooling issues.

I have been busy fitting the bar, spotlights, uhf, vhf aerial. Still need to install brake controller, power for the fridge. Mulgo rails are on order and my sheepskin covers front and rear should arrive this week. Had to laugh at the wife today when she burnt her bum jumping in the car that had been sitting in the sun. :-). I am also going to get some scroll work done on the panels and the cars name "Josie" painted in script on the drivers air vent.
I have a winch to throw on but need the mounting kit for it. Slowly starting to cross things of the list. All the jobs I had planned for the Xmas hols that didn't happen due to an obnoxious roo.

    UHF Fitted.

    Uhf fitted.

Picked up power from the cigarette lighter and the main unit is in behind the roof liner. Aerial is through the rood with a tiny 1/4 wave aerial which seems to be best around the hills. External speaker sitting in the hole where the ash tray was. Rather neat!

Vhf Lead sits in the dash to the right of the radio to plug in the receiver when it is in the car, I can use the VHF aerial on the bull bar.

A guy I know that drives a tdi disco took his driving lights off his bullbar and he reckons he is achieving better fuel economy.

    Is that possible?

I have taken the chip off the computer and now get better economy, though I am down on power. I guess it may be possible to get better economy by taking off the lights.

Be wary of the corners on those TJM bars. They are made of recycled baked beans cans, ask MLD!

Mine is bent as all buggery but thats because it had a poor repair in the past.

    But they do look good.

I like them better than the ARB bar with the raised mid section. Baked bean cans? I think it is better than nothing. Does anyone know what the winch kit entails? Flat piece of 5mm steel?
