Putting a Salisbury on the front can cause a bit of fun with the angle of the front prop.
Had a few mates that did it to defender 90's and at speed got wobble on the front. Change to double uj to make it better.
All because the noise on the Salisbury is long that the land rover front diff nose.

SupporterIts easy if you say it quickly. Actually the difficult part, I imagine, is finding, a front salibury...
Do you mean something like this?
84' 120" ute - 3.9 isuzu.
Well rare in the uk but found on the army armoured landies used in Ireland
So they are about
But where you would find one in Australia.
This is my old winch challenge team partner's truck which has Salisbury axels front and rear . Just is an Ibex which is on land rover running gear. Also has a mid mounted ( in the middle of the car behind the drivers and passengers seat ) high mount warn.

I was told the NORFORCE rovers had front and rear Sale. Would make for a better outcome hitting hidden ant mounds.

You'll meet a 50/50 argument here. Some (me included as I run a 101) love Salisburys, and some hate them. A front Salisbury has advantages and disadvantages in a Defender. Yes they are available. Google it and those that are available will appear. Advantages:- big diff that'll take a pounding. Better axle IMO than a Rover Axle. Disadvantages:- big diff!.. thats lower than a Rover Diff, diff more central to vehicle as central casting is wider so needs to be offset more to clear radius arms and coil mounts... which means its closer to the sump, which means the prop is closer to the sump... (All of which I've discovered whilst fitting a Cummins to my 101). Internal shafts are special to a front DefenderSalisbury, BUT are no stronger than their Rover counterpart... which kinda defeats the object of a Salisbury front! (Different story in a 101.. They're huge!!)
Yes, the thought of a front Sals is great, and when I had my 130 and momentarily thought about fitting the Cummins to that, a Sals was in the watch list on Ebay, but a well built Rover Diff with a Trutrac center, Ashcroft CV's and HyTuff shafts will be just as strong and a lot easier to do! That's the way I went, and I gave the laden 130 a fair pounding in the High Country and it ran without issue. Hope this helps!

If money is no option and you could find one of the northern Ireland diffs, go for it.
Spend half the money and no fitment hassles.
The RFSVs didn't have sals up front.
They had a shortened version of the Perentie 6x6, 4pin, braces and reinforced front diff.
Cheers, BDave.
