    Snail brake adjusters

    Hi All,

I have replacement drum brake adjusters for my 1960 Series II SWB.

I cant work out how to remove the old/damaged ones...

There is a nut on the rear of the backing plate, but when I turn this the adjuster (snail bit) moves around...

I have tried holding the snail bit with pliers, multi grips, etc - but I cant get enough purchase...

Any ideas - I am hoping that I am missing something simple here.

I thought about getting a grinder and cutting it off but there must be a better way?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

Grind the head of the rivet in the middle of the snail and then you can pull the snail off with pliers,

As chazza says. The originals are rivetted together, the replacements screwed.
