    LEVUKA2014 Australia Day weekend

we toddled off in the little 2a and were first there.
set up the camp trailer in light rain and others arrived, so we went for a little drive, I found the little car went places I wouldn't have driven the old v8! and did it with ease. somewhere along the way we lost 2nd gear and that caused some problems having to get it back into 1st from 3rd, but on we went. we had a good couple of drives Saturday and I am sure there will be plenty of photos.
we drove home sunday morning and left Woodenbong driving up that long hill for about 5 kms in 1st, no fun without 2nd.
    here are some photos.

Thanks to the club for paying the entry fees and for a great weekend. I arrived Friday night and for me it was the first trip in some time. I was looking forward to putting the silver bullet through its paces and she performed well and managed to drive through everything I threw at her despite be stock vehicle with muddies. Have included a few photos and will put up some video footage soon.

Yes Australia Day has some um... interesting traditional dress.

Grimace had some great fun and flew some big chunks of mud everywhere.

Tim's Pinzgauer was a great vehicle and blast to have a ride in. All the kids wanted a ride especially the big ones.

Hey Dad I think something is wrong with the tyre?

    Whoops !!

Pete had his tyres fitted at the same place as John.

Camp fire cooking was a highlight with the girls whipping up some awesome bread and butter pudding in the camp oven.

    Boys and their toys.

Thanks to GCLRO for a top weekend Even though it drizzled nearly all weekend we had a terrific time

'herc' had some problems through the weekend, though did not miss a beat on the way home, Gary said he had trouble keeping up with us

Don't have a lot of pics, but would really like to see the vids of 'herc' playing with the others. Was pretty muddy like all the other vehicles

See you all on Thursday at the meeting

Thanks All, was good to get out for a couple of days and clear the cob webs out of the rangie

I do have a couple more things to sort on the rangie, it made it home but a few electrical gremlins have arisen.

Trav, its ok there were still a couple of rangies red lining on the forest

Thanks to all for a great weekend.

Sorry we don't have any pictures at all as I forgot to take a camera.

I spent an hour removing mud last night and seemingly made no progress at all when I look at the car!

Only real damage for me was popping a bead on one of my rear tyres. I haven't tried to put it back on, I may do later.

Well after spending 2 hours with the Gernie, the D2 looks half decent
Apart from the crap weather, we had a great weekend.
Gave the D2 a fair bit of a flogging, along with a few extra dents it did not have before
Very pleased with the way the car performed !
I led the Medium group Sat & Sun, and certainly led them astray
I have to say we covered all tracks around the park, with the exception of Dingos and Rosemarys.
We had new and older fenders, D3/D4's, Disco 2's , a Mafia Range Rover, the 101 and 2a. What a mix !
Well i have to say everyone gave all tracks a go in some challenging conditions.
Everyone drove very well, and to our surprise the two Harry's drove their respective vehicles everywhere.
I would not of attempted half of what they drove, however they gave everything a go.
I have to say it was very impressive.
Phil in the D4 displayed some great driving in some tricky situations
I have not seen a D4 gain so much air before
I was very pleased with all the drivers ability in slippery conditions, and also happy to report no breakages or major damage.
    No photos, to busy driving

Certainly enjoyed every ones company !

Until next time, best wishes to all !
    Cheers Dave

The Presto's had a ball this weekend, so a huge thanks to all that attended and helped to organise a trip that will be hard to beat in 2014!

We did remember to take our camera, but one of the midgets broke it
I believe Mel does have some images and vids on her phone, including a great shot of the Pinz almost falling over! ....unfortunately, I had to catch an early flight to Sydney this morning and will be here all week, so you'll have to wait for the 'Mels phone' salvage mission until the weekend.

With the on-going work on the defender, I am very happy with the way it performed! I have not had a chance to remove any mud as yet, so cannot provide a damage report - that may come later if there's anything drastic!

    Had a great weekend!
The family recovered after setting up in the dark and I have to say we are getting it together as a team. I do enjoy camping with my wife and boys!
As usual the company was terrific.
I am now embarking on a much overdue 'spruce up' of the disco. Fatter intercooler, new drag link to replace the clunky one, replacement steering pump to eliminate the whine, fitting my winch, hopefully manufacturing sliders and maybe if the funds extend that far, another inch or so in the back. Maybe firmer springs as well.
Number two son heartily thanks Tim for the ride in Arnie and told all his mates today. He had to google 'pinzgauer' to show them what one was!
I proved that I still got it when comes to camp oven cooking as my roast turned out delish.
I joined Mister Busman on the medium trip and had a ball - my first time at Levuka.
Again, thanks to all and maybe see some of you at Cruiser park.
