I was given one by a life long family friend who was around in the club since these were introduced.
He told me they were made that size to cover the SMHEA sign that was on some of the members' vehicle doors.
I was given 2 off these plaques the other week.
They came from Oberon, where they have been screwed to the shed wall for many years.
Can anyone tell me about the history of them?

That was the third edition and dates from around 1978. The majority of vehicles in the LROC Sydney branch were acquired second hand ex-government. The logos of the various departments SMHEA, NSW Forestry etc were all about the same size so it may be true. Ask Bobslandies as my knowledge goes back only as far as 1973 when I joined as a 15 year old.
The Federation was the forerunner of the current 4WD association of NSW and ACT.
BTW I have a pair of each of the two previous decals. If you ever want to part with them, I'm standing first inline. You can see one of mine stuck into the front of cookeys Mk3, that one is the second edition.
("Hello yes" - Mark, I'm thinking I got my early ones off the wife of who I think you were talking about, lived up the road from you?. She was treasurer of something at the time, I bought a pair of current ones and she als gave me the early ones which were cracked, so I mounted them on aluminium and covered them with contact to hold them together.)

Carolyn,
Hello again.
I don't know when they were first issued, but the LROC in Sydney is selling a new line of the badge again - I bought a couple last year (top of photo).
There has been at least one other variant of the badge at some stage - pretty much the same except the small Land Rover is facing head on rather than semi-side on.
Cheers,
How are tehy meant to be secured to teh vehicle?

Can you see the two holes in the badge in my pic-with screws sticking through them?
Could be a clue there![]()
I wouldn't fancy screwing them to the doors of my pride and joyStickers yes
They will happily go on the cupboard with all the others, just like S3ute has in his garage
Dianna, the previous owner died many years ago, my uncle brought them to me who once owned the PO series 2aI doubt I will give both of them up.
