    Roof rack rail removal

Bought some roof rails and bars for the Disco 3 last week. Had a look at the roof rail inserts today that you need to remove from the roof and found something strange. The drivers side insert does not have any plugs on them whereas the passenger side has the 4 plugs you would expect. Anyone seen anything like this? Not sure how I should remove the one without the plugs? Any ideas?

    Are the rails OE ?

Get yourself a plastic trim remover kit to remove the plugs. You can do it with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers, but the risk of damage to the surrounds is far greater.

Have a closer look at the insert on the drivers side. It may be that the rubber itself comes out exposing the attachment bolts beneath. If the plugs are integrated into the trim, you may have no choice but to start with the rearmost plug, and lever them up one by one moving forward. Probably a greater chance of doing mischief to the trim though.

The rails I'm putting on are extended LR rails so I need to remove most of the trim and just need to leave the bit over the front lower roof. Was just a bit surprised to see the current fill trim fixed different on one side compared to the other. Damaging the rear 3/4 trim is not big issue.

The trim just popped off really easy.
For reference, the bolt receivers on the roof are M6 thread.
