Sway bar link fixes front end rattle

I had an annoying rattle in the front end upon bumps and articulation, I couldn't pin it down to either side, but guessed it was slightly more prevalent with left side bumps. Turned out to be a sway bar link on the left. In the end I may have been able to just tighten it, but I replaced it, for $20 and 20 minutes work and she is tight again. Happy.

Note: always do the top link first, as you need the movement at the bottom to hold the top one while it is done up.

Tools: 19mm socket for the nut, but you have to hold the 'bolt' that forms the shaft of the ball joint with a 17mm spanner (or thin cone spanner).
    Now: 2005 L322 Vogue 4.4 M62TU (Black)

I had the same annoying rattle, thanks for pointing me in the right direction to fix it glenhendry.
I got under there today and replaced the anti roll bar links, while I was under there and greasy anyway, I also replaced the anti roll bar rubber bushings for good measure.
The job was pretty straight forward, the top link bolts can be a bit tricky to remove, but it all went back together well.
The steering feels a bit tighter now, and the annoying rattle has gone.
    Another job off the list!

Just took it for a better drive, the steering feels beautiful now, this job has made a big difference to the feel of the car on the road...much much smoother and stable.
