    Exclamation SCUBA TANKS

    Hi guys, I have a 1996 disco with a large single 90 lt tank which takes up the whole boot. I want to replace it with three small 30 lt scuba tanks so I can have a storage space on top. Any feedback on this?

    1. There's no such thing as 'scuba" tanks when you're talking about LPG. Scuba tanks hold compressed breathing air. There is a thing called a "manifold" tank which consists of 3 small cylinders (203 or 208mm diameter) welded into a package. One of these will hold around 60 litres of LPG.

    2. If you want larger than 60 litre LPG capacity you can fit two separate cylinders of small diameter, the most common ones were made by APA and come in 285mm diameter and come in a range of lengths. The ones that are 1100mm long hold 53 litres approx, there's also one at 1500mm long that holds 70 litres approx.

    This is a pic of a set of 1100/1500 tanks I installed in a D2 many years ago, having removed them from the D1 which they were originally installed in:



    Together they hold 123 litres. I did a RRC last year with a 950/1100 pair that held 95 litres approx between them, same diameter.

    The triples fit well inside the load area in such a way as to allow side bins or a cover with side storage. They dont take up a lot of room given how tall the roof is...just stick a cage in and load up.

    Ps I get 300k around town from the 54l and more on highway.

    I almost get that sometimes.

    Usually around 275km

    Yep they are same as mine Cannon. I am running 31s' 2in lift, TJM Bull bar, recovery gear and typically several adults but its a 5 speed.

    I have the same setup in my '95 D1.
    Running 31's and 2" lift i only get around 170km around town, drives me nuts filling up every second day

    Hi fellas. Its a BRC-Impco Plug n Drive sequential. For those running 245/75 etc dont forget that the odometre reading will be out. My 300 takes into account the 8% or so more mileage than what the odometre shows.

    I have to drive carefully to get 300k. If I get up a few times hard it is is a little less.
