D3: Spare loom in front of the battery compartment?

Just looking around the 2008 TDV6 HSE D3 I purchased yesterday, and looking at what goodies are under the bonnet, under the dash etc, and I came across a loom that just sort of dangles in space in front of the battery compartment.
It is a 30cm loom, with 2 connectors, that appear to be fitted with blanking plugs. It is strung diagonally across the open space behind the LH headlamp.
It is definitely part of the genuine loom as the vehicle is completely unmodified (yay!).
Any idea what the loom is/what is otherwise mounted in that space in other variants? Just curios to know whether that loom can be repurposed for something else...
