which cargo barrier for 110 Defender?

    hi,

just wondering which cargo barriers you have installed. a search on eBay showed a more expensive Milford one http://bit.ly/1nqYTCc and a cheaper tradesmen one. Does someone have experience with any of them?

    cheers

    Steve

I have a Milford in the Disco, a Landrover genuine in the 110 and I had a bodged up one in the 90. The Milford is much stronger, doesn't rattle and has a decent coating. The Landrover one is flimsy, it disassembles itself over time and has a lightweight paint job that looks like it won't last. I'd buy a Milford again, probably even over my homemade bodge welded and galvanised one in the 90

I use a woven fabric from Opposite Lock - same as the ones in racecars. Took bit of mucking around because not self-supporting but find it very usefeul as a tradie. It can be easily dropped to allow longer/larger items. I had to construct a 'support bar' that spanned the defender roof so I could attach it all the way to the roof.

I used to have a milford in my old disco and it was excellent too, just a pain because it limits you once installed.

We got ours, for a 90, from Autosafe Industries Pty Ltd - Home but they do a 110 version too. It's rock solid, top build quality, can't really recommend it enough. From memory about $490 fitted.

    This is my cargo barrier.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about it, it was in the car when my parents first bought it (I got tge car off them). It looks to be well constucted and has done it's job over the years.
Pics aren't uploading at the moment, I'll try again in a bit.

    Steve 223 Cargo barrier

Steve.I rolled my Deefer, the vehicle ended on its roof,it was a write off.I had fitted a Milford cargo barrier previous to the trip. The only problem was the battery leaked and it burnt the ''bum'' out of my navigators jeans. She was of medium build but we had trouble unlocking the seat belt. The Milford did a great job ,this all took place near Birdsville. My advice is when it comes to safety pay the extra dollars. After that experience I fitted dual Gel batteries-no leakage. Finally,I strongly recommend Milford and I have no connection with the company.Cheers Lochie

I bought an AUTOSAFE from TJM a few months ago. No complains no squeaks. It is made here in Melbourne.
