    Defender 130 rear axle noise

G'day guys , my 99' Defender 130 TD5 has started making this clicking noise from the rear diff area . I first noticed it when i was accelerating under load usually from a 1st to 2nd gear change . Then again it would start like a slight rattle when coasting and the axle under no load .
You can really only hear it with the window down and seems like the L/H rear wheel . Hasnt got any worse but hasnt got any better either !

Intially thought it was the rear axles (there was movement from the maxi drives shafts to heavy duty flanges) so i replaced them but it still there .
The driveline has very little backlash (for a Landrover anyway)

Uni's feel OK , pinion flange seems tight , tailshaft bolts are tight . All rear suspension bushes and upper balljoint have been replaced .

Anybody had this before ??? brake pins rattling perhaps ????

Could it be as simple as the handbrake binding?
Slacken the adjustment screw right up and take it round the block. If it stops then your handbrake is probably dirty

Could be unijoints on the prop shaft on the way out?

Mine was a clicking/ticking intermittent sound differing and coming/going depending whether I was on or off the accelerator and felt fine too until i took the prop off and realised I couldn't move one by hand...

Thanks guys - I think your onto something , I'll replace the rear driveshaft uni's and see how that goes . It feels OK , but sort of only thing really left.

No harm in checking the handbrake either , but there seems plenty of slack in it . Appreciate the help .
