Cheap and cheerful disco 2 lift kit suggestions?
Hi you lot.
I got a disco 2 update model which has had the airbags removed and a low set of springs put in, I believe it was tarmac tourer in a previous life. The current setup is a bit 'wallowy' for my liking. I would like to lift it a bit by replacing the springs and shocks, a standard 1 to 2 inch would be heaps as it is now used as a family weekender with nothing more than a few rough and rocky roads, not a serious offroader.
Looking online shows what I am after with prices ranging from $699 to $2000. Obviously i prefer the lower price. Has anyone used these cheaper ones? Any recommended brands? I yould like to keep the whole shebang to below 1k if possible, but still have reasonable ride quality.
Thanks
Ian

A lot of thread on this mate.
Try suspensionstuff, they do a dobinsons kit for a grand.
Personally I have dobinsons +2" springs (spring rate was upped to make up for bar work, fridge etc) and terrafirma shocks, very happy with the setup

Really depends on your plans. Weekends away, touring with loads, how much travel, etc. You'll need to do shocks as well for full effect of travel, and maybe (depending on actual travel) brake lines and ABS lines and possible space the removable crossmember.
Don't want to put you off but there's all the possible things that could need doing and forewarned is forearmed.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at the other threads on the subject. Im not in to anything , extreme, just a little extra to take the kids to the local campground and on some firmer beaches. Currently the car is very low - the previous owner put low springs in. It's good to know about the other things I need to look out for!
Cheers
