Good one.
I have been asking myself the same question but my ? in reference to a new one.
Carn Guys.
Just wondering if anybody had successfully swapped out their original BeCM for a spare? Is there a step by step guide anywhere? What are the pitfalls and risks?
I've put a 2nd hand power board in mine, but problems with the lights persist. I tried soldering new mosfets in my original power board, but it was way too fiddly for my skills.
I was considering swapping out the whole thing for another spare. But wondered what programming could be done with a nanocom (which I don't have) or similar.
I don't want to swap the locksets, ecu and keys.
Good one.

One pitfall is that the odometer reading is stored in the instrument binnacle and the BECM.
Changing either will see the recorded km change to be the same in both - but at the highest of the two.
Rupert Prior can probably do it for you. I think there are a few variables in the old BECM that must be copied across to the new, e.g., VIN.
