Christened my new rod this morning.

A bit of a step up from my usual herring. Two salmon:thumbup:

A perfect morning with the beach to myself.

    Well done Ron.
Nannarup Beach by the looks of it.
I bet the mother in law cooks them up nicely.
    ENJOY

I had a good feed last night, accompanied by some fresh chillies and capsicum, thanks Andrew. It was very tasty, given reports on how poor these fish rate for eating I only kept two to give it a try. Now I have no such concerns. Plus they are a great "sports" fish to catch.

Yes it was Nanarup Beach and I had the beach too myself. Although over Easter judging by the steady line of 4x4s with fishing rods traveling south on Albany Highway I'm sure there will be may having a go.

I also had a chat with two Fisheries Offices while checking out what was happening at Little Beach in Two Peoples Bay.

    Cheers
    Ron

Although I use salmon for Gummy shark and snapper bait, they do smoke up well I am lead to believe. I must try it some day.

Nice catch Ron, they generally put up a good little fight.

They're not a bad eating if fresh. I have caught quite a few of these, then eaten them within the hour,,,

The only problem I can see in any of those pics, is the reel on the sand thought I was the only one that did that

Yes, I was a bit disorganised, being the first fishing day of the trip and Salmon fever kicked in. As I was parked on the beach I didn't setup my rod holders, and my second pair of hands Ella (daughter number 2) slept in. The rod and reel did get a good wash after.

The following days I deployed my new wire frame rod holder which worked well, much better than plastic pipe.

    Time to go fishing again...

    Cheers
    Ron

haha,, good luck with that Ron,, on both counts,, having a little one waking up on time, and catching the fish.

Was looking at your pics again, the sand looks really fine where you are. Cant wait to get over that way and explore.
I have a DVD here somewhere of a couple of guys fishing around Walpole (s?) somwhere, using Halco gear. Its like a small shallow estuary/bay. Awesome looking spot too.
